OPG Fees
Before an attorney can legally use a Lasting Power of Attorney (“LPA”) it must first be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (“OPG”).
The OPG’s fees are presently £92 per LPA. So 2 LPAs will cost a donor £184, and 4 LPAs (2 each for [say] husband and wife) £368.
The OPG’s fees can change at any time. They were last increased on 17 November 2025.
Add OPG's costs to our quoted fees
These OPG costs, which we refer to as disbursements, need to be added to the prices shown on our 'prices' web-pages when the LPA(s) are to be registered.
Fee Exemption & Remission
Where the donor's circumstances match certain criteria - and the Donor can prove it is possible for the OPG’s fees to be halved or waived entirely. We will explain these criteria to you when we meet, and guide you as to what documentation we will need that is acceptable to the OPG to support a claim for a fee remission or fee waiver.
Price comparison
To help you compare of our prices with those of our competitors we, like our competitors, just show our prices for each service. Please remember therefore to add the OPG’s fees to our figures [where you desire the LPAs to be registered] to determine how much you will have to pay in total.
We generally recommend that LPAs are registered as soon as possible - but there are occasions when registration is better deferred. Again, we will discuss this aspect with you.
